Normandy D-Day Tour

Explore the Historic D-Day Sites on a Memorable Day Trip from Paris

Step back in time and follow in the footsteps of those who took part in one of the most significant military operations in history. This immersive journey from Paris takes you to key locations of the Normandy landings, where you’ll walk the sands of Omaha Beach, stand atop the cliffs at Pointe du Hoc, and explore well-preserved German bunkers still armed with their original artillery.

Gain a deeper understanding of the strategy behind the landings as you visit the Operation Overlord Museum, and take a moment to honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice at the American Cemetery, where thousands of white crosses stand in solemn tribute.

The Historic Landings of June 6, 1944

On this fateful day, Allied forces launched a massive and complex assault on Nazi-occupied France, with over 150,000 troops arriving by air and sea. The battle that unfolded was pivotal to the liberation of France and shaped the course of World War II.

Whether you’re a dedicated history enthusiast or simply curious about D-Day, your expert guide will bring these events to life, sharing powerful stories of courage and determination.

A Journey Through Key D-Day Sites

Your adventure begins in Paris, near the Arc de Triomphe, where you’ll meet your small group (limited to eight people) and set off towards Normandy. The scenic drive through the French countryside takes about two hours, leading you straight to the heart of the historic landing zones.

German Bunkers & Omaha Beach

Upon arrival, you’ll step into a fortified German battery, part of the extensive Atlantic Wall built by the occupying forces. Here, you can see and even touch the massive guns that once targeted Allied ships and soldiers.

Next, you’ll visit Omaha Beach—one of the most fiercely contested landing sites, where thousands of Allied troops fought against intense enemy resistance. Veterans later dubbed it “Bloody Omaha” due to the immense losses suffered here.

Operation Overlord Museum & Pointe du Hoc

At the Operation Overlord Museum, you’ll explore an extensive collection of wartime artifacts, including soldiers’ personal belongings, military vehicles, and artillery that played a role in the invasion. After the museum visit, enjoy a lunch break at a nearby restaurant offering regional specialties such as grilled meats, fresh salads, and savory or sweet crêpes.

Then, it’s on to Pointe du Hoc, where U.S. Army Rangers undertook a daring climb up 100-foot cliffs under relentless enemy fire. Walking across the cratered landscape, you’ll gain insight into the incredible determination that made this mission successful.

The American Cemetery & Normandy Cider Tasting

Before concluding your tour, you’ll stop at a family-run cider house for a complimentary tasting of Normandy’s renowned hard cider and Calvados. Non-alcoholic options, such as fresh apple juice, are also available.

The final stop of the day is the American Cemetery, where your guide will recount inspiring stories of individual heroism. Here, you’ll have the opportunity to pay tribute to fallen soldiers, including Medal of Honor recipients and the Niland brothers, whose story partly inspired Saving Private Ryan.

By the end of the day, you’ll return to Paris with a profound appreciation for the bravery and sacrifice that defined D-Day and the Normandy landings.
